About Wilson RV Park

Hello! We are Dave and Lisa Sacheben, the new owners of Wilson RV park. We are a work in progress and the best is yet to come, but for now we are ready to host you with full hook ups, internet, hot showers, and a laundromat. We are in the process of restoring the old convenience store which ceased operation 60 years ago! It now has a new roof and is completely gutted. We can't wait to paint, remodel and turn it into a fun little coffee shop/camp store to serve you.

We love Jesus, His creation, and people! We are active in our community and love hiking, biking, and camping. We are big readers and personal growth advocates. Dave is a swimmer and a motorcycle enthusiast. Lisa loves cooking, drawing and pottery.

We recently caught the bug and joined the wonderful community of RV owners. After traveling to several National Parks and visiting some of our beautiful 50 states in 2020, we found there is a great need for more family friendly places to rest and enjoy the great outdoors. God blessed us with an amazing spot in Kansas which we have grown to love for its spectacular sunsets, open spaces, and friendly people. We are situated in the quaint town of Wilson which is rich in history and just a few minutes from the cleanest most beautiful lake in Kansas, complete with beaches, hiking/biking trails, and great fishing! Just minutes off I-70, we are the perfect spot to stay for a night or come for a week to enjoy the area with all it has to offer.

History Wilson RV Park

The following was reported in the newspaper about the Campground:

"Open's Cabin Camp
Stoppel's Cabin Camp held is opening last Saturday. Mr. Stoppel has gone through a great deal of expense to fis up this pay camp but from it's general appearance he will have no trouble renting every cabin out each night. It is located at the west edge of town on the highway"

Reported in a local newspaper on May 17th, 1928

"Building More Cabins
Alex Stoppel was down from Russell yesterday making arrangements to enlarge and improve his tourist camp on the highway in the western part of town. He has four cabins in his camp and is expecting to build four more. Each cabin has a shed for the auto. The grounds are equipped with hot and cold water, shower baths, toilets and cook stoves while adjoining it is a first class filling station. Mr. Stoppel says he has more calls for his cabins than he can accommodate and one night had to turn away thirteen calls. He may take over the city tourist camp and look after it if the city will grant him the privilege."

The story was followed up on June 28th, 1928

One of the former owner-operator of the Cozy Cabin Camp, Laundry and Service Station, Mollie E Williams died on Saturday, February 22, 1992. She was born Mollie Galliart of Wilson. Her first husband, Henry Stoppel, died in 1936; and her second husband, Beryl Williams, died in 1980.
